We always give guidance to our customers about the options to get individual coverage for children under age 19. The health care reform has created some issues for the children looking to obtain coverage. We have 4 option that can get them covered, include a parent with the child will allow you to get coverage from any major medical carrier. If you do not have a way to include an adult with your child, you can look at the Texas Health Insurance Pool (managed by BCBS of TX), Preexisting Condition Insurance Plan (www.PCIP.gov). If your income level allows you to have your children covered by Medicaid (Chips Medicaid) may be an option for coverage. We know since health care reform this has created some issues, we may see things get easier as we roll into full health care reform in 2014. We are not 100% sure how the reform will help to improve this issue.
