This week I have run into a few customer with dental pain. This can be a hard time of year to live with your mouth aching. People put the most value on any insurance when they need it for an event going on in their life. It is hard to find a good dental plan that can save you money and offer coverage immediately for any issues you may have. Most traditional individual dental plans do have a 6-month waiting period for minor such as fillings dental work and 12-18-month waiting period for major procedures – like crowns. The traditional plans offer yearly maximum coverage of $1,000-$2,500. I believe waiting 12-months to get the dental insurance to help you with any issues is not realistic.
This year I did run across a dental plan that is an HMO dental plan. The great thing about the plan is that it has no age limit for getting the policy, most traditional plans limit to 64 years old. This plan allows coverage for everyone and coverage can start on the first of the month after you apply — it is guarantee issue. It does cover preexisting conditions — so you can have a need for a crown or filling when you apply and it will be covered by a copay. You can get coverage on the first of next month and there are no dollar limits on benefits like a traditional plan. This will allow you to get everything done without running over the plan annual limits. This can provide the needed relief for a customer who has been living with mouth pain and no insurance. I really like having this plan to help my customers.
The plan is a SafeGuard Dental Plan SGX-245. It is an HMO dental, so you need to stay with your chosen dentist, though you can change this dentist every month if you would like. Examples of some of the benefits of this plan are the office visit copay is $5, Cleanings, X-Rays and fillings are at $0 copay, yes free. Crowns for example are a $245 copay plus lab fees. They even cover denture at copay of $325. They even have a $125 copay for bleaching. I was very skeptical on this plan and I did do some research before I would offer this plan to my customers. I am a believer now and my family is on this plan and we have been satisfied with the plan. I have some customer as well confirm satisfaction with the plan.
I bet you are wondering how much this costs for this HMO dental plan. They do ask that you keep the plan in force for only 6 months. The monthly premiums are below:
-
Individual: $39.95/month**
-
Plus One: $57.95/month**
-
Family : $79.95/month**
**Plus a onetime application/group membership fee of $55.00
**Only a 6-month commitment required
